Misa OgaOwner/DirectorMisa Oga graduated from the University of Utah with a Master of Fine Arts in Ballet, specializing in Ballet Pedagogy Research. Misa’s research has been selected and presented at national conferences such as NDEO (National Dance Education Organization) and CORPS de ballet International. Misa holds a BFA in Ballet Pedagogy, as well as Ballet Performance, and a minor in Child Development with a full scholarship.
She is an American Ballet Theatre Certified Teacher for Pre-Primary through Level 5. Misa teaches ballet majors at the University of Utah in ballet technique and pointe courses. Misa Oga is an award-winning choreographer and teacher. She is the recipient of the “Outstanding Teacher” Award from the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix for the 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2023 seasons. MOGA Conservatory of Dance, was named “Outstanding School” at the Youth America Grand Prix 2022. MOGA students have received awards at the highest level of international ballet competitions, including Youth America Grand Prix, Prix de Lausanne, and IBC (International Ballet Competition). In 2022, MOGA student, Lexi McCloud, was selected for the Prix de Lausanne and was one of the top 20 finalists. In the final rounds in Switzerland, she was one of only two female ballet dancers representing the United States of America. At the Youth America Grand Prix, the world’s largest international ballet competition, her students have received numerous 1st place awards and multiple top awards, including the Hope Award and Grand Prix Award. Out of over 15,000 dancers worldwide, Misa’s student was awarded the Bronze Medalist in the Senior Division at the Youth America Grand Prix International Finals. Misa’s students have placed 1st place every year at the YAGP Semi-Finals. (1st place 2019, 1st place 2020, 1st place 2021, 1st place 2022, 1st place 2023). At the Utah Dance Review 2022, Misa’s students were awarded the “Grand Champions.” They are the leading dancers in Utah. Upon graduation, Misa’s students receive professional ballet contracts and scholarship offers to the top universities and institutions in the field. Misa’s students have also been awarded as Sterling Scholar Finalists. Misa’s choreography has been awarded top awards, including numerous 1st place awards at the Youth America Grand Prix. Her choreography has been selected for major international galas, including the Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow gala. Misa has also taught as a guest teacher at Boston Ballet, Ballet West, Youth America Grand Prix workshops, and Utah Ballet Summer Intensives. |
